On Sept 1 my three companions will fly from Illinois to Paris and I will fly to join them at the Paris airport. We will spend a couple of days in Paris to acclimate to the time change. Then we will take the train to St. Jean Pied du Port to begin the walking portion of the Pilgrimage.
When we begin the walk around Sept 4th we will make the ascent to 932 metres (about 3000 feet) to Roncesvalles. We won’t be covering many miles however this is a climb and will take about a 9 hours.
